December 10th, 202012/10/2020 This week we made chocolate chip cake. It was fairly easy to make. The only problems we had was the butter not being soft enough, Dallie over mixing her batter, and we did not have enough sugar. Since we didn't have enough sugar, Dallie had to you a little bit of splenda. The only problem Maelynn had was having to cut her cake while it was still hot because we did not have another 9 x 13 sheet pan. We tied this week. But, Dallie won the entire competition by 1 point. So I think we are both pretty good at baking. Ingredients

December 07th, 202012/7/2020 This week we made Cookies and Cream Macaroons. We have both heard that macaroons are difficult to make, so we wanted to try it out ourselves. Maelynn thought it wasn't difficult, but Dallie had some trouble with the consistency of the cookie when piping them onto the parchment paper. Maelynn's stayed firm and did not move while Dallies were runny. Personally, neither of us liked them but, Ms. Howard said that Maelynn's macaroons were the best homemade macaroons that she has ever had. Maelynn got a 29/30. Dallie got a 17/30. Ingredients

November 18th, 202011/18/2020 This week we made snickerdoodle muffins with cinnamon sugar on top. They were overall pretty easy to make other than at the beginning the batter looked a little questionable but it all worked out. It looked funny because it was very watery and the butter made it clumpy. The batter ended up looking normal once we finished adding all of the dry ingredients. Dallie thinks that the muffins were a little dry but not terrible. Maelynn thinks the taste of the muffins are good. Maelynn got a 22/30. Dallie got a 23/30. Dallie won. Ingredients

November 11th, 202011/11/2020 This week we wanted to get into the Christmas spirit since Maelynn's mom put the tree this morning. We made gingerbread cookies! They were fairly easy to make. The molasses was pretty messy and we got it everywhere, as well as flour. Because of the humidity today, the cookies were flatter than expected. Tim Kenney suggested that we should've refrigerated the the cookie dough. Maelynn got a 27/30. Dallie got a 26/30. We are currently tied. Ingredients

Week 8: Bundt Cake11/6/2020 This week we made a bunt cake. It wasn't difficult to make but it was difficult to put together. You had to pour 1/3 of the batter into the pan, put cinnamon mixture, then put the chocolate chips and repeat. We thought we didn't have any sugar so we were running around trying to look for some, thankfully Dallie had some in the camper. Dallie accidentally left hers in the over for 20 minutes too long, but it came out perfect. Maelynn left hers in for the right about of time but it came out BURNT! Dallie got a 25/30 and Maelynn got a 9/30. Dallie is winning. Ingredients

Week 7: Sausage Balls10/28/2020 This week we made sausage balls. We wanted to take a break from making sweet things so we switched to savory. The recipe was not difficult at all and they turned out really good. the recipe os just sausage, Bisquick, and cheese. Dallie won this week with a 29 and Maelynn had a 26.

Week 6: Chocolate Oreo Cupcakes10/21/2020 This week we made chocolate oreo cupcakes. We both thought the recipe was pretty weird because we had to pour one cup of boiling water into the batter. It made the batter very thin and watery but it said that's how it is supposed to be. We actually made icing this time, it was pretty sweet but it still tasted good. Dallie got powdered sugar everywhere when he was trying to make it though. Dallie got 30/30. Maelynn got 29/30. We are tied.

Week 5: Chocolate Chip Cookies10/14/2020 This week we made chocolate chip cookies. They were fairly easy to prepare, but it took a long time because we had to chill the dough for an hour before baking them. The most difficult part of the process was determining the amount of time to leave the cookies in the oven, even though the recipe said 10 minutes it ended up being a lot longer before they were done. This happened with both of us. Basically the only good thing that happened was that we didn't get flour everywhere for the first time sense we started genius hour. Both of us got a 27/30. Once again we both tied.

Week Four: Brownies10/7/2020 This week we decided to make brownies. They were not very difficult to make but there were some challenges while making them. The most difficult thing while making them was knowing if they were done. Dallie put way too many chocolate chips in her brownies so they fell apart very easily. She also couldn't tell if they were done or not because there were too many chocolate chips. Both of them turned out mushy but we just went with it. Ingredients

Week Three: Pink Lemonade Cupcakes9/30/2020 This week Dallie and I made pink lemonade cupcakes! The hardest part of making them was most definitely juicing the lemons! I got yellow food coloring all over the counter and it 100% stained the counter. We used a gallon bag to put the icing on on the cupcakes. We don't like icing so we bought some from the store and put yellow food coloring in it. My neighbor Madey Whitt, really enjoyed them and said they were really good. I made a whole batch and I only have one cupcake tin so I made a bunch of tiny cupcakes so I'm going to bring them into school for my third period class. Dallie got 24/30. Maelynn got 27/30. Maelynn won this week. The score is tied at 2-2. Ingredients:
